How To Do The Salt/C Plus Protocol
(Thumbnail Summary)

 

1.  The S/C+ Protocol involves 4 basic components that are referred to as SCWDD ("sik-wid").  This is an acronym which stands for:
Salt
Water
vitamin C
Diet
Detoxification

2. Get the correct Salt for the protocol:    DO NOT USE PROCESSED TABLE SALT (i.e. Morton's, etc.) - THIS IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED AND CAN MAKE YOU ACTUALLY WORSE.   There used to be a pharmaceutical grade salt tablet that was used for the protocol but is no longer produced.  Lyme Strategies discovered what works really well is natural, unrefined salt - Himalayan, RealSalt, Celtic. Sea, etc.
These can be found in health food stroes and online easily.

3.  Get empty gel caps (size "#00").  Filling one of these equal approx 1 gram of natural salt.  

4.  Get Vitamin C.   It can be any good Vitamin C tab or capsule from your local health store or online.  Best is a "natural source" type C (example" vitamin C from "rose hips") that also has "bioflavanoids" for better absorption and assimilation. Those with "tender tummies" from their Lyme complex, may prefer "buffered C" or Ester C.

Note: it is also possible to "pre-mix" a "day's worth" of salt/C doses in a container and then take doses from it spread out through the day. This has been found helpful for those with nausea issues as result of their Lyme complex. For more information on this method see the Links Section here and the link entitled "Mixture Method". 

4. The "Scale-Up" Method:    DO NOT start out at full-dose (the "up to 12 grams" per day) as described at other websites.  The Salt/C Plus Protocol involves the unique "Scale-Up Method".  Start with 1 gram of salt and 1 gram of Vitamin C, taken together.  Do one "dose" or measurement in the AM.  Then "listen" carefully to your body.  If there is a notable reaction, hold at that for the day's dosing.  If not, you can do second dose of the two, preferably early in the afternoon (allowing enough time before bedtime to "settle down" if there is a little reaction before bed.   Again "listen" carefully to the body.  if there is a notable reaction, hold at this dosing (of twice/day).  This would be your dosing for the next day.  
You would hold at that dosing amount until there is not much reaction anymore, then you nudge up to a third dosing in a day.  If there is notable reaction, you hold at this then, and follow the same procedure as with the first two.

What is "notable reaction"?  It is "die-off" effect or what is called "Herxheimer" effect (or "Herx" for short). it is typically accentuation of symptoms as well as other phenomena (can be anything, fatigue, itching, diarrhea, slight headache, flu-ish or feeling of mailiase, etc.).  

One proceeds in this fashion.

5.  One must drink lots of pure Water daily to help "flush" the toxins and debris out of the body.

6.  There must be a minimum of 75% veggies in the Diet to provide adequate potassium (and host of other nutrients, fiber, minerals, etc.) for the controlled, raised saline in the body during the program.

7.  Detoxification emphasis will help mitigate herxing enormously and allow smoother, more expedient and more sure gains.  For digestive, nausea, toxic feeling, take Activated Charcoal (online or health store) but away from the supps.  Give your body as much rest as possible  

The motto is: "pace, not race". . 

8. "Herx" periods:    Expect to hit more pronounced or "stiff" herx periods at approximately the 4-5 week period, the 8-9 week, the 12-13 week, the 16-17 week, and roughly every 4 weeks from the time of starting for many months. A significant period can be found at the 6 month (or 26-27 week area) and the 9-10 month area.

9. What Is Maximal Levels?    It is very important to know it is not quantity, it is consistency of application.  In other words, it has been proven that steadfast application of 4g/day of S/C each will see better and more surer results than a "race" to do "higher amounts".  Most individuals who do that end up not succeeding.  That being said, it has been determined that the upper-end maximum level that can eventually be worked up to (exactly per the Scale-Up Method) is 1g each of salt/C for every 12-15 lbs of body weight.  Example:  a person of 150 lbs body weight would have an upper-end limit of 10-12g/day.
